Olympic BMX Overview
Cycling has been an event at every Olympic Games in one form or another but BMX is brand new and was introduced only at the Beijing 2008 Games with events for men and for women. 'BMX' is short for 'bicycle motocross' and it sees competitors navigating a dirt course with jumps, hairpin turns, and plenty of action as they vie for the lead. It was introduced in an effort to appear to younger Olympics fans.
