Olympic Road Cycling Overview

Road cycling at the Olympics has two events: the road race and the time trial. For men the road race is 239 kilometers for the men's event and 120 kilometers for the women. Competitors start together and the first to cross the finish line takes the gold medal. The time trial is a race against the clock and takes place over a shorter distance with the racer with the quickest time winning.
